Yesterday was truly amazing and will be a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life. To see all of the massive crowds there on the National Mall sharing this moment together was powerful. What a great day! :-)
Congratulations Mr President!

I certainly agree! The only thing better would have been being there in person.
I loved his speech and seeing Rev. Lowery and his words made me teary thinking about all the work he did along side Dr. King and for all the years since his death. He's an amazing man too and I was so excited to see him be a part of President Obama's big day. It was so right that he would put the Amen on the swearing in event.
Elizabeth,
I would have LOVED to have been there! Watching CNN showing people coming in well before 4am Washington DC time, you just knew something special was happening. They had reporters out roaming through the crowds and you could just feel the sense of togetherness. I teared up many times when they would speak to different people of a variety of ages and backgrounds and they would ask how they felt about what was ahead for the day. The human spirit just showed through time and time again. The connection was powerful.
The President's speech was great I thought too...it fitted with the times we are in and yet it gave a sense that with a collective effort many things are possible. And yes, Rev. Lowery just warmed my heart, because I also thought about him being alongside Dr. King along with many others, and how they worked so hard to further equality. I thought a lot about those who came before, who helped this day to come. Rev. Lowery is amazing...he is a survivor and I'm so glad he was a part of the inauguration. And he so put the Amen for sure on the day :)
I spent a large part of the day glued to my television. I really wanted to go (I entered 2 lotteries to win tickets, lost both of them (sigh).
I enjoyed watching and enjoyed everyone's enthusiasm for the new administration. I loved how the crowds cheered every time the Jumbotron showed the president and first lady.
Sorry a made a typo in my previous comment so I deleted it :o)
I watched it live on-line with a couple of my work friends on our lunch break. Powerful, indeed. I had few teary moments and felt so proud to be an American :o)
I was glued to our tv. What a great day!
I felt moved to tears when Obama was sworn in and then the tears really flowed when he made his fantastic speech. I am proud to be an American once more.
Woohooooooo! I am so excited and full of hope.
This is great news, even though I am not American I had the tears well up myself. It finally feels like the people have joined together and said enough is enough and the people have prevailed.
I feel so positive and am looking forward to seeing what else we can do!
A great day for the world!
Julieanne
Amen
Anne,
I agree...it was a collective glueing to the tv that day :) It was something else to watch...I just felt this beautiful peace come over me as I watched early on as people streamed into the Mall before daylight :)
Ivanhoe,
I'm with you...I never felt so proud and connected with home like that. It made me a little homesick :)
Maureen,
It was awesome, wasn't it? :) I could just feel all of this good coming through the tv and I just intermittently cried all day...tears of joy :)
Health Nut Wannabee Mom,
Me too :) I look forward to better days. I know it won't happen overnight, but I think that we are rising again soon :)
Julieanne,
It is so thrilling that a great deal of the world shared in our joy as Americans. I love that. After all, we are all in this together in the world today :) I do agree that this definitely feels like a situation where the people spoke and worked together to achieve a common goal. Hope won :) This has inspired me so much too Julieanne...I think one of the great legacies of this campaign and this movement will be a great many of us stepping up to make change where we live. It truly was a great day for the world! :)
Jodi,
Amen indeed :-)
