Tomorrow Brit Boy and I are headed to London. We are going to the Tina Turner concert and we are excited. We bought these tickets several months ago. I’ve always wanted to see her because I just love how strong she seems and how she just does her own thing. She’s one of those artists that you sort of put on your list to see and hope that you get the chance to have the experience. When the tickets went on sale many months ago, we didn’t know if we had a chance, but me being me, I just tried (smile)
One Sunday, I was upstairs on the computer and Brit Boy was downstairs and I saw her video on a 80s countdown I was watching on TV. Then I started to wonder if there were any tickets still left for one of her shows. The tickets had gone on sale days before. So I just hopped on over to check it out and lo and behold there were some nosebleed seats available and they were cheaper so it was a win-win. So we bought a couple of tickets and we’ve been waiting all of these months for our Tina experience (smile)
Tomorrow is International Women’s Day and I can’t think of a better day to see a legendary woman like Tina Turner. She has come through so much in her life and is now living her life on her own terms and I admire her so much. So as I’m dancing around in the cheap seats tomorrow night, I’ll be watching this woman who is a survivor.
And please check out the link on International Women’s Day, there is so much there to support, to cheer on, and to celebrate. I guess that you can tell this is something I really care about because I put two links (smile) Have a great weekend!
Happy International Women's Day!
ReplyDeleteTina Turner...you are so lucky! I miss the ability to see a concert with the ease that you have from your location. Nobody comes to Cornwall.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time and I'll check out the links to International Women's Day
Love her too Dori. How wonderful that you get to see her. Super envious. Enjoy for all of us and happy International Women's Day. Had never heard of the holiday but I think it's great.
ReplyDeleteHave fun seeing Tina!! She truly is an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy...and do a dance for me too. :-)
ReplyDeleteBack in the days when I studied Russian, I learned all about International Women's Day - and to this day it's one of the few Russian phrases I'm completely confident that I know. It was a big deal in the old Soviet Union, and I imagine it's a bigger deal in Europe than the USA. Cause your blog post was the first I heard about it. I just missed out on seeing Tina Turner back in the 80s. Still haven't seen her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a woman Tina is and thanks for letting me know about International Women's Day! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteInternational Women's Day is so important in the developing world too. Great that you have brought it to people's attention.
ReplyDeleteWow - I'm envious. How wonderful that you got tickets. Good for you. I hope you have lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteHappy International Women's Day, and enjoy the concert! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great time at the concert! I have never heard of International Woman's Day, but I will definitely check it out.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear all about the show! I know Tina did a great job!
ReplyDeleteSo how was it? I have the greatest respect for Tina Turner and love some of her songs. My favourite is River Deep, Mountain High.
ReplyDeleteHow was Tina? She's approaching 70 but I'll bet you she still rocks :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad a lot of you are interested in International Women's Day. In some countries it is celebrated more widely, but it is celebrated in the US, the UK, and in many other countries in many different ways. I don't think it gets nearly enough press though. I hope to help that along in my own way in years to come :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for Tina...she really does her thing!!! Great concert!!!! :-)
In South Africa we celebrated National Women's Day on August 9th. It commemorated the day that 20,000 women marched on the Union Buildings to protest against the Urban Areas Act.
ReplyDeleteEmm,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this info. I just love knowing about things like this. You are great to contribute this :-)
